Halloween Pizzas

These Halloween Pizzas are fun and festive for a Halloween-themed make your own pizza party or family pizza night. We’ve made a Frankenstein pizza, skull pizza, mummy pizza, ghost pizza, jack o’ lantern pizza, and spider pizza – and instructions are provided for each pizza below!

If you have kids (or even if you don’t!) Halloween is such a fun time to embrace some fun, seasonal, holiday foods – and these Halloween pizzas totally fit the bill!

We’ve made a variety of Halloween pizzas – a pesto Frankenstein pizza, alfredo ghost pizza, black olive spider pizza, skeleton skull pizza, barbecue chicken mummy pizza, and a jack o’ lantern pumpkin pizza. And instructions for each are provided below!

But truly, the best part of these Halloween mini pizzas is that they’re fun – so have fun with them, get creative, and customize them to your personal design and taste preferences!

Now you could totally make any of these pizzas on a larger scale, as a full-size pizza. But the beauty about smaller, mini pizzas is that it accommodates different tastes. So whether you’re like my kids where one prefers alfredo sauce and one prefers tomato sauce – everyone is still happy!

Ingredients Needed

  • Pizza Dough: use a one pound ball of pizza dough, that you’ll divide into six pieces for the individual pizzas.
  • Sauces: you can use whatever sauces you prefer, but to make the Halloween pizzas as pictured, you’ll need tomato sauce, alfredo sauce, and pesto.
  • Cheeses: to make these pizzas as pictured, you needed shredded mozzarella, string cheese, shredded cheddar, and mozzarella pearls.
  • Toppings: you can absolutely get creative with your topping choices, but all toppings here are made out of black olives, deli-style pepperoni, and ham.

Mummy Pizza

  1. Shape an individual piece of dough into a circle an place onto a square of parchment.
  2. In a small bowl, combine cooked, shredded chicken with barbecue sauce. Toss to combine, then place on the prepared pizza dough.
  3. Pull apart string cheese and place strands across the barbecue chicken as the mummy’s wrappings.
  4. Place two black olive slices as the mummy’s eyes.
  5. Keeping on the parchment paper, place the prepared mummy pizza on the baking sheet. Bake at 425°F for 12-15 minutes (the thicker bbq chicken sauce is heavier on the dough, hence the longer cook time).

Ghost Pizza

  1. Shape an individual piece of dough into a ghost shape. Try making a slightly long triangle and then place the dough on a piece of parchment paper. Then pull a round area off the short side for the head. Pinch the arms a bit, then take the bottom point and turn it to one side for the ghost’s tail.
  2. Spread alfredo sauce on top of the prepared ghost pizza dough, then top with shredded mozzarella.
  3. Place on one slice of a black olive as the ghost’s mouth, then cut small squares from another slice to use as the eyes.
  4. Keeping on the parchment paper, place the ghost pizza on the baking sheet. Bake at 425°F for 9-12 minutes.

Spider Pizza

  1. Shape an individual piece of dough into a circular pizza shape. Place onto an individual piece of parchment paper.
  2. Top pizza with pizza sauce and a mix of mozzarella and cheddar cheese (or whatever cheese you prefer).
  3. Use black olives to create the spiders. Slice one black olive in half, length-wise, for the body of the spider. Then take the other half and make thin slices to create little half moon slices to use for the legs. Place the legs next to the larger black olive, overlapping slightly. You’ll likely need another half a black olive to make all the legs (4 on each side). Make 3 spiders total.
  4. Keeping on the parchment paper, place spider pizza on a baking sheet. Bake at 425°F for 9-12 minutes.

Frankenstein Pizza

  1. Shape individual piece of dough into a small rectangle (it doesn’t need to be perfect) and place on a square of parchment.
  2. Spread pesto on top of the pizza dough. Then top with a sprinkle of shredded mozzarella, then with dried parsley, to accentuate the green monster Frankenstein color.
  3. Cut small triangles out of a slice of deli-sized pepperoni for Frankenstein’s hair (you can use other pepperoni, too, you’ll just need more slices).
  4. Use pepperoni scraps to cut thin lines to make a zig zag for Frankenstein’s mouth.
  5. Cut a small fresh mozzarella pearl into slices. Use one slice for each eye, then top each mozzarella slice with 1 black olive slice.
  6. If desired, use additional black olive slivers to create a black olive “scar” to be placed on Frankenstein’s face – depending on your eye/ mouth placement, you can place the scar on his forehead, cheek, or closer to his neck.
  7. Keeping on parchment paper, place prepared Frankenstein pizza on the baking sheet. Bake at 425°F for 8-10 minutes.

Skull Pizza

  1. Shape an individual piece of dough into the shape of a skull – start by making almost an egg shape, then square off the jaw of the skeleton a bit. Place the dough on a piece of parchment paper and make any necessary adjustments to the shaping.
  2. Spread alfredo sauce on top of the pizza dough, then top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  3. Take a paring knife and a slice of ham to cut out two ovals for eyes, a small, narrow heart that you’ll place upside down for a nose, then two sets of “teeth”. Arrange ham pieces on the skull.
  4. Keeping on the parchment paper, place the skull pizza on a baking sheet. Bake at 425°F for 9-12 minutes.

Jack O’ Lantern Pizza

  1. Shape an individual piece of dough into a pumpkin shape by creating an oval and then pulling the center of one side to create the stem. Transfer to a piece of parchment paper and make any adjustments to the shaping as needed.
  2. Top pizza with tomato sauce and then shredded cheddar cheese.
  3. Cut a large slice of deli pepperoni in half. In one half, use a paring knife to cut out the mouth of a jack o’ lantern. In the other half, cut out two triangles to use as jack o’ lantern eyes. Place the pepperoni mouth and eyes on the pumpkin pizza.
  4. Keeping on the parchment paper, place the jack o’ lantern pizza on a baking sheet. Bake at 425°F for 9-12 minutes.

Expert Tips

  • For the pizzas that have shaped dough, just take your time with it. I often find it easier to get a general shape then place on the parchment paper. From there it can be a lot easier to make adjustments to the shape, as the dough can kind of grip to the parchment paper.
  • Relax and have fun with it!

Substitutions & Variations

  • Gluten-Free: You can use gluten-free dough, it’ll likely take a little more precision with shaping. Stick to the parchment paper for sure, and you may also find it helpful to oil your hands while shaping.
  • Dairy-Free: use dairy-free cheeses that can melt, and then ensure all of your toppings are also dairy-free.
  • Get Creative! You can absolutely use whatever you prefer when it comes to sauces, cheeses, and toppings. Have fun with it!

Storage, Freezing, & Reheating

  • Storage: leftover Halloween pizzas can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Freezing: once cooked, pizza can be wrapped in foil or plastic wrap, then kept in an airtight container or bag and frozen for up to 3 months.
  • Reheating: reheat in the microwave for 30-60 seconds for a softer, but faster reheat. But to maintain quality, I highly suggest reheating in the air fryer at 375 for 2-3 minutes, in the oven at 400 for 3-4 minutes, or on a skillet over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 16 ounces pizza dough
  • 2 string cheese
  • 3/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup alfredo sauce
  • 1/4 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup shredded cooked chicken
  • 2 tablespoons pesto
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 2 slices deli pepperoni
  • 1/4 cup black olives
  • 1 slice ham
  • 1 mozzarella pearl

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425°F. Set out two sheet pans, and prepare parchment paper for pizzas by cutting six 7×7-inch squares.
  • Prepare the dough by dividing it into six equal-sized pieces. Assemble individual pieces as desired, with specific instructions below (or get creative and do your own thing!).

Frankenstein Pizza Instructions:

  • Shape individual piece of dough into a small rectangle (it doesn't need to be perfect) and place on a square of parchment.
